Detroit Lions: The Lions are 2-5, which was pretty much expected, however if Stafford hadn’t of gone down I can argue that they would be at 4-3. They were also robbed of a victory against the bears when they ruled that the Calvin Johnson TD catch was dropped. The Lions are who we thought they were, but have an explosive offense that can score with the best of them. A nice young and talented team that will be a force in the NFC North in the coming years. C
Minnesota Vikings: Where to begin… Well Favre came back after the speculation that he had informed players that he decided to retire, Brad Childress has appeared to have lost his locker room, traded for moss then waived him, oh yea and they’re 2-5. The defense has struggled mightily especially in the secondary, they can’t seem to pressure opposing QB’s while Favre is constantly absorbing hits. Sidney Rice is still recovering from hip surgery and the offense surely misses Chester Taylor. The only thing worst that can happen is Favre walking out on them mid season. The Vikings have some big questions they must address this offseason and it begins at QB. D
Chicago Bears: The Bears have been up and down all season, but mostly down. The Bears are 4-3. Jay Cutler appeared to have improved with his decision making early in the season, but as of late he has returned to his old form which included being intercepted by Deangelo Hall 4 times in a game. Cutler has also been harassed almost every time he drops back which has caused him to force some throws and make quick decisions that don’t always help his ball club. The bottom line is his offensive line is really bad and of late his decision making is also, but they have 4 wins and could get to 8 by seasons end. B -
Green Bay Packers: Coming into this season the expectations were at an all-time high. The Packers were this years trending pick to reach the Super Bowl in the NFC and haven’t really performed to the expectations of many. They have been decimated by injuries which include Finley, Grant, Barnett, Burnett, Jones, and Neal among others. Still the Packers defense has helped keep get this team back into first place of the North at the midway point. The offense hasn’t been clicking on all cylinders as expected, but the losses of Grant and Finley have a lot to do with it. Rodgers could be playing better and I expect him to in the second half of the season. I like where this team is headed after two huge victories over the Vikings and Jets. B +
